What's In A Name?

Acts 11:26

"And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Our son has always been so proud to have his father's name. As soon as he was able to form the words he would tell people his name followed by, "&ldots;.and that's my daddy's name, too!" And to this time he has never shamed that name.

We also bear a name that not only tells who we are but Whose we are. We should be proud to be called by the name Christian, proud that it tells others that we belong to Christ. It proclaims to the world that we are followers of and identify ourselves with Christ. Christ--the only Name by which men can be saved. (Acts 4:12) May we never bring shame by word or deed to the name Christian. And may we always be ready to tell others of the Name that gives salvation, of the One Whose Name we bear.
